Still looking for their first win of the season, Largo's 1st team welcomed Royal High Corstorphine's 2s to East Drive. After late call offs Largo were again not at full numbers and therefore decided to bowl first to try and maximise opportunities when batting later on. This immediately looked a good decision when Baddeley opening the bowling removed the dangerous Sathiy for 1 with Bentley taking a good catch. With Brown and Bentley then also taking wickets the visitors were 30-3 off 15 overs and things were looking good for the home side.
A good partnership between both Maliks in the RHC lineup settled the innings with a few dropped catches helping them out before the introduction of S.Warrander and Anderson removed both set batsman and meant Largo were again in the driving seat with 10 overs to go. Finally RHC finished on 140-7 with Anderson finishing with 3 wickets but all around a great effort in the field restricting the visitors to what seemed a more than manageable total.
Opening with the Warrander brothers Largo were 19-0 off 6 overs despite some good bowling, and thoughts of a first win were beginning to grow among all those involved. However very quickly the game was taken away from the home side when some good bowling and unfortunate shot execution results meant that 19-0 became 30-5 and hope of a win seemed remote. After a recovery of sorts between Sneddon and Anderson saw off the RHC openers, Anderson was given LBW off the bowling of Clarkson and with it all thoughts of a Largo win were gone. They eventually finished on 47 all out meaning the search for a 1st win goes on and a much improved batting performance will be needed on the long trip to St.Boswells next weekend.
