After the long trip to Fauldhouse via traffic at the Highland show, Largo once again lost the toss and attempted to bat on through the tough conditions with openers A.Warrender and N.Rintoul starting at a steady pace. Warrender was playing a more subdued innings than usual, supplementing Rintouls 'close your eyes and swing approach'. The partnership was broken after 9 overs with the score on 19 with Rintoul(16)playing and missing a straight one. G Kinnear(5) stepped up to the crease but not before long fell victim to the ever changing pitch. After this the Largo middle order unfortunately didn't put up much of a resistance despite cameos from H.Gillin (13)and M.Khan(4) and a well earned Not Out for the consistent A.Anderson(11no), the Largo total after only 35 overs was a measly 76 all out.Middleton for Fauldhouse returned the remarkable figures of 8.1 - 3 - 20 - 7.
However the Largo boys know to always fight to the end. After tea they set out to defend their below par total, and with Farooq Khan and Aiden Brown opening the bowling Largo gave themselves a great start to build on. But with Fauldhouse ticking off the runs at a slow but steady pace the Largo victory seemed doomed to fail. Captain Rintoul changed tactic and brought on premier spinner Alex Anderson with great results. Anderson finished his 7 over spell with 4 wickets for 21 including the wicket of fauldhouse topscorerR. McDonald(19)
Largo needed the 4 final wickets with only 6 runs to spare and did so with the re introduction of F.Khan with Rintoul bowling the other end to hand a memorable victory to the Largo boys by 2 runs. Rintoul picked up one wicket for 6 runs from his 4 over spell while F. Khan finished with figures of 4 for 13 from his 8 overs . On the always testing Fauldhouse wicket the bowlers were always going to have the upper hand and the top performers were; F Khan and A.Anderson with 4 wickets each.
The next game for the 1st XI is at home to table topping Morton next Saturday
