On another glorious midweek evening Largo's T20 squad played their first away match of the T20 season when they traveled to kirkcaldy to play Dunnikier.
Batting first Sharif and Yousaf made steady but slow progress against Largo opening bowlers Gillin and Scott but it was Stevie Warrender charging down the Dunnikier slope who achieved the breakthrough trapping Yousaf LBW for 7 in the sixth over. Dunnikier 25 for 1. Sharif and Rafi then started to build a dangerous looking partnership pushing the run-rate to 6/over. With a front-line bowler short Largo captain Asman Ali had to manipulate his bowling resources bringing himself and a far from fit Rintoul on for a couple of overs each. With the score on 78 for 1 at the end of the thirteenth over Scott was brought back on and with his gentle pace-off the ball immediately broke the partnership bowling Rafi for 30. S. Mohamed followed in the same over leaving Dunnikier on 80 for 3. Anderson then removed Khan for 1 in the next over but Sharif remained immovable until Gillin bowled him in the penultimate over for 41. Dunnikier finshed on 111 for 6.
Scott 4-0-14-3: Gillin 4-0-14-1: Anderson 4-0-23-1: Warrender 4-0-27-1.
Rintoul and Coates made steady progress when they opened the batting soon realising that the fielding was not as sharp as that of Largo's with lots of quick singles to be found. Coates was bowled by Farid for 8 shortly followed by Rintoul who was bowled by Khan for 12. This brought Andy Warrender and Alex Anderson together to form a match winning partnership of 70 which included only a handful of boundaries as the two ran the fielders ragged. When Anderson was bowled by Sharif for 21 in the seventeenth over Gillin joined Warrender to see Largo reach the 112 required in 18.5 overs. Warrender 44 not out.
This was a match played in the best of spirits and a good performance by Largo against a hard-hitting team on the always interesting Dunnikier wicket.
