In glorious evening sunshine Broomhall won the toss and elected to field hoping to limit Largo to a chaseable score in the fast and furious 8 aside competition. While Rintoul got Largo away to a good start before being bowled by Begg for 24 it was the teams "young guns" Gillin, Anderson and Brown who clocked up the runs. Gillin reached the retirral score of 50 in quick time while Anderson put together another well-crafted innings finishing on 45 not out while Brown contributed 24 before being run out. With former captain A. Duncan making a rare but welcome appearance at the crease Largo finished on 158 for 2 from their 20 overs.
Broomhall set about the chase with Begg and I.Ward showing real intent trying to keep up with the asking rate of 8 runs per over. Begg was well on his way to his 50 when Scott who he had hit for a "six" and a "four" tempted him into playing another big shot and had him caught by Rintoul for 41. 15 year-old Matt Baddeley showed why he is the latest of the Largo youngsters to be selected by Scotland when, bowling with good pace down the Largo slope, he took the wickets of Ward(21) and Hynd(5). Although the required run-rate was rising Hoefling looked in good form as he went after the Largo bowling but he was out for 34 thanks to a fine catch by Scott from the bowling of Anderson.
Broomhall finished on 132 for 4 and a fairly comfortable first win for Largo in the competition
