Dunnikier were the visitors for this weekends derby match. Winning the toss Largo skipper Kinnear opted to bat first on what was a beautiful batting wicket surrounded by a fast outfield. Rintoul got Largo away to a brisk start but was bowled by S. Ahmed for 22. A.Ali(5) and Macfarlane(1) soon followed leaving Largo on 31 for 3. N. Ali and Anderson however built a partnership of 50 before Saeed bowled Anderson for 18. Ali(30) and Rajagopal(2) followed in quick succession leaving Kinnear and Brown to dig the team out of a perilous situation at 87 for 6. The pair put on 70 runs.
Kinnear was dismissed for 35 and Brown for 31 but as seems the norm for Largo the "tail wagged" and Gillin(22no) and Bentley(15n0) saw Largo to 201 at the close of the innings.
Largo's bowlers got away to a good start with 2 wickets down for 26 but Sharif and Rafi saw the score on to 104 by the 29th over. Sharif(38) was caught and bowled by Anderson and Rafi(41) fell to Gillin swinging the momentum back in Largo's direction. A spell of tight bowling resulted in Dunnikier requiring 87 from 13 overs - more than a run / ball. Although further wickets fell Dunnikier pretty well kept up with the rate and with 4 overs to go needed 28 runs to win. This became 9 required from the last over. No problem for Masood Fareed who struck 2 massive "sixes" far into the adjacent field to see Dunnikier home with 4 balls to spare. Brown who took 3 wickets for 32 from 7 overs was possibly the pick of the bowlers although Bentley bowled his 10 for a miserly 19 runs.
A tough loss to take but on to Clackmannan next week with a lot of positives going for the team.
