News came out over the weekend for what we believe to be a first for Largo CC which is to have an active playing member of the club awarded an MBE in the Kings Birthday Honours. Rob Tooze through his many roles at the University of St Andrews before his recent retirement has made a vast contribution to the world of chemistry with more information on his work in the science and industry field below: https://news.st-andrews.ac.uk/archive/triple-success-for-trio-of-st-andrews-scientists-in-kings-honours/
As a playing member of the club over nearly 20 years at Largo he has filled many roles including 3rd team captain where he often lined up with his son’s Will and James and has been a constant reassuring presence at the top of the batting order for teams over the years. Rob has played 132 matches for Largo, scoring 2011 runs at an average of 17.04 with a top score of 78 not out achieved in 2022 when had the best year of his Largo career averaging over 50 that season. He has also taken 17 wickets.
We couldn’t be happier for Rob and look forward to seeing him receive his award soon as well as scoring many more runs for Largo over the coming years.
