Largo travelled to Dundee to face Kinloch 3s on Sunday hoping to bounce back from last week’s heavy defeat. Brent Bentley returned as captain and after losing the toss his side were asked to bowl first.
Largo opened with Konig and Kamal Singh, with the pair bowling without reward initially before Kamal had Usman caught on the boundary by Sandhu before Bentley brought himself in to the attack and immediately got 2 wickets bowled, Kinloch 51/3 at drinks. The home side though came out with renewed intent and managed to find the boundaries with regularity, Khan and Iqbal taking the score towards 100 before Sukhi Singh bowled Khan for 36.
Sahil Verma bowled well on Largo debut without success before a cluster of wickets saw Konig, Sandhu and Bentley return to take a wicket each. Kinloch though would continue to attack and managed to get over the 200 mark with the final ball of the innings going for 4, Largo requiring 202 to win.
In reply Wilkinson was joined by a returning Dom Coates and the pair started in steady fashion seeing off the new ball bowlers, Bowman especially causing problems. The pair though after doing the hard work began to find their feet with Coates especially the aggressor as the pair moved first past 50 and then 100 as they put Largo in control requiring 100 off the last 20 overs with all 10 wickets remaining.
After drinks the home side stifled the attack, building the pressure with accurate bowling which led to the first wicket of Wilkinson, adjudged LBW for 48 by Khurshid, the partnership broken at 139. Murray Sneddon came in at no 3 and managed to help change the momentum of the game with a quick 10 before he also fell to Kurshid. The Largo side though were not to be denied victory as Sandhu joined Coates and the pair managed to smash the required 50 runs in just 5 overs with Sandhu’s 22 in his own big hitting style taking the game away from the home side as Coates continued on to an impressive 87 not out. Largo winning by 8 wickets.
This was an impressive victory for the Largo side against a team how had only lost once all season before this game. They will look to continue this form as they face another tough away day at league leaders Scot Lions, Largo looking to inflict their first defeat of the season.
