Largo 1st win at home to St Boswells
Match Report vs St Boswells
Looking to get back to winning ways Largo 1sts welcomed St Boswells to East Drive and the visitors after winning the toss decided to bat on what looked a great East Drive surface for the batsman.
Stand in Skipper Harney opened the bowling with Rintoul and Aidan Brown and the Largo side were rewarded with early wickets through Brown taking the wickets of Hunter and Goodman for 7 and 16 respectively. The early breakthroughs were then backed up by the rest of the bowlers with Eglinton, Gillin and Harney himself keeping things tight while also taking wickets at regular intervals backed up in the field by some good catching. With Matt Baddeley and Rintoul returning to finish off the innings, St Boswells scored 110 all out in 37 overs with this score well below what they would have been expecting at the start, Aidan Brown's 3-16 the stand out bowling with pace the opposition couldn’t handle.
Looking to back up the bowlers Largo opened with the experienced pair of Kinnear and Barclay and both played very well seeing off the openers before Kinnear was adjudged LBW for 27. This sparked a mini collapse for the home side with M Baddeley and Wilson going cheaply still with over 50 runs to get. However Barclay was still there for Largo and along with Gillin took advantage of the change bowlers for the borders side and managed to see Largo comfortably home with 7 wickets to spare, Barclay finishing on 55 Not Out.
This was a welcome victory for Largo after some difficult games of late and the side will be full of confidence going in to next weeks game against Livingston.
