Last weekend saw Woodcutters make their annual trip to East Drive in a game always scheduled as 'friendly' but nevertheless keenly contested. The fall of two early wickets brought Galloway to the crease and after a cautious start he played an innings full of superb strokes, invariably finding gaps in the field and scoring several boundaries on the way to his second century of the season. He was given good support by Ryan Brown (16), Alex Anderson (39) and Drew MacFarlane (13 not out).
In Woodcutters response to a Largo total of 205 for 5 wickets, much depended on Duncan Scott (a regular in Largo's 1st XI this season but a part-timer for the opposition in this game) and veteran Woodcutter David Bowie. A rapid start was soon halted in its tracks when newcomer David Bentley had Scott well caught by Alex Anderson, going on to dismiss Bowie two overs later. Galloway gave the new batsmen little time to settle, changing his bowling attack at regular intervals. Willie Anderson (2 for 5) mesmerised the middle-order batsmen as did son Alex shortly afterwards, Laurie Scott claimed two victims with a fiery spell of bowling and Macfarlane, not to be outdone, brought the Woodcutters innings to a close well short of the Largo total. As ever the main outcome of this annual friiendly was enjoyment with both teams adjourning to a local hostelry after the game to revive memories of past encounters,
