Patience the Key  for Largo

Peebles rolled up at East Drive with a strong looking line up to tackle the new kids of the 4th XI.  Fortune had given George Nairne, Andrew Warrender and (at 1pm) Lord Dakin to the team.  Peebles chose to bat first and went after it early - 2 wickets for George and 1 for Sulmaan saw the score at 44-3 in the 11th over - the next pair put on 80 as Largo bowlers (senior and junior) struggled to cope with the onslaught ...... a score of well over 200 looking likely.  However, the guys stuck to the task and had Peebles all out for 187 in the final over - young Voas ending on 57 not out.

Largo replied through the youthful Zaman, ably supported by Dakin.  Zaman in particular rode his luck, but the first wicket did not fall until 35, in the 10th over.  With all players bowling, it soon became clear that Peebles were predominantly a batting side as ......... the Largo middle order plotted a route to victory, however, there then followed a steady flow of batsmen to and from the pavilion as all got in, then lost patience and got themselves out.  A late burst from George, ably supported by Frank allowed the game to extend until the 38th over where Largo succumbed for 132.

What a team - all we need to learn is patience.
