Largo 3XI show good start to Season

This week Largo CC 3rd XI entertained Edinburgh CC 3rd XI, in the ESCA Division 7 game at East Drive, Upper Largo, Edinburgh finished runners up in Division 7 last year & as regular readers to these reports know, this is Largo CC 3rd XI first game in Division 7, after gaining promotion from Division 8 last year, Largo won the toss & asked Edinburgh to bat;

Edinburgh started to score runs quickly, as is their fashion, But Andrew Robertson & Robbie Eland had removed 4 wickets when the score was on 55 for 4, including a run out by Robbie, this was the tone of Largo's fielding through out this innings, some very good ground work by this young side, giving very little away, James Tooze took the Gloves for the first time for the 3rds & delivered a good all round performance, behind the stumps, another debutant was David Scott who cleaned bowled the next 2 wickets, the second removing A Azads middle stump out of the ground. At this point Edinburgh were on 130 for 6, with their Captain N Andum, keeping their innings together, before Ian Brown moved quickly to his right with only a single stump to see, removed it, with Andum 4 yards out, , R Raza continued to increase the score for Edinburgh to be all out on 182 in the 42 over;

Largo started with Dick Dakin  & Murray Sneddon & with the score on 13, Murray was out to a out swing delivery, Dakin stayed until the 1st ball after the Drinks break & was out for a solid 25, with the score now on 48 for 4, James Tooze & Tom Marshall started to increase the run rate, before Marshall was out for 16, Ian Barnes joined James & pushed the Score onto 115, before James was out caught behind for Largo's top scorer of 32, Barnes (25) & David Scott (4) completed the Innings so Largo finished on 131 for 6 to gain 10 points, Edinburgh won this most enjoyable game, with Largo young players again shining through;
