Victory for Largo Seconds

Largo 2nd XI played hosts to a youthful Clackmannan County 2nd XI side on Saturday in a good spirited match played in glorious sunshine and with match ball sponsorship provided by Innes Johnston and Co.

Clackmannan skipper Alison Ramsay opted to bat and while Hobday bowled some fine deliveries it was Sayer who made the through when he induced an edge and Wilson, returned from University, took the catch behind the stumps. Hobday continued to bowl well with no luck as some difficult chances went begging and a couple of run out opportunities were missed. A change in the bowling brought a change in fortune for Largo as Thomas skied a delivery from Nairne and Galloway making good ground to his right confidently held a steepling catch. Galloway was not out of the action for long and showing good composure ran out skipper Ramsay by a good distance. The Clackmannan innings now disintegrated to Bentley (3-10) and Nairne (5-12) with the highlight of the wickets being a juggling catch at first slip by Dakin. Galloway had time for a couple of overs and showed good pace in the field when driven through mid off for 2 in a gutsy little innings by young Fiona Campbell.

In the Largo reply to Clackmannan’s 65 all out Ramsay produced some good away swinging deliveries and soon dismissed Bentley but Guy Robinson, also returning from University, was in aggressive form and scored a rapid undefeated 32 to ease Largo home by 8 wickets in only 12.5 overs. Largo remain top of Division 6 and next week face a potentially difficult trip to Stirlingshire to face St. Modans 2nd XI.
