Largo hang on for draw

Largo 2nd XI entertained the Muslim Association on Saturday in a key top of the table encounter.  Wet and gusty conditions finally relented sufficiently to allow the game to start at 3p.m. with skipper Barnes winning the toss and asking the visitors to bat.  The damp outfield made life difficult for the Largo bowlers and the opposition took full advantage of any deviation in line and length.  Hobday, returning to the side after injury, was the pick of the Largo attack, with Sayer adding economical support.

The Muslim total of 227 looked a formidable one and the home team never threatened to surpass it.  Dakin, despite defying their attack, was unable to increase the scoring tempo and with wickets falling at regular intervals, Largo opted to deny the opposition outright victory, at the same time picking up useful batting points. Sayer and Nick Robinson both played entertainingly before being bowled and the innings finally closed at 146 for 5 wickets.
