Barclay's
Batting secures Largo Victory
Largo
Cricket Club 1st XI maintain there winning run in East League 2
with a fine victory away over Edinburgh II, were they chased down a total of
209 set by the capital men. At first it was tough going for the Fifers
as a few of the Edinburgh batsmen were finding their groove well and using the
short boundary well as a few of the Largo bowlers were toiling in the sunshine
but the Fife men stuck to their task well to restrict Edinburgh to 209 for 9
after the 50 overs with everyone contributing. Bentley was the pick of
the Largo bowlers with 3 for 39 with his 3 wickets taken in the last over as
the
Edinburgh
men looked to increase their total.
With
the pitch playing well and the short boundary on one side
Largo
were confident in chasing that total down.
Largo
lost
Walker
quite early but Stinson was playing well and reached his 50 in quick time.
He was out not long afterwards however, caught behind and
Largo
’s run rate slowed a little. Kinnear and Bux were looking quite
settled before a mix up saw Bux run out and then Kinnear play round a straight
one and bowled. The partnership of the innings came from Murdoch and
Asman as they both ran well between the wickets and punished the bad ball.
They put on 59 valuable runs before Asman was eventually caught. There
was still some work to be done if
Largo
were to see this home but nerves were soon settled as Barclay produced a fine
display of clean hitting to see
Largo
over the finish line with 4overs to go. Largo remain top of East League
2 and entertain Boroughmuir this Saturday in a top of the table clash.
