Largo Clean up at Haddington
Largo 1st XI kicked off their
biggest weekend of the season in style on Saturday with a crushing 7 wicket win
at Haddington. Winning the toss
Largo skipper Duncan had no hesitation in opting to field first. His decision
was quickly justified when Sharif had Talbot caught by Ritchie
with the total on 9. A brilliant run out by Arfan Yousaf saw the hosts in real
trouble at 10 for 2, this was quickly 11 for 3. Ritchie and Mowat
joined the attack and continued the Largo dominance. Ritchie in particular was
outstanding bowling a ten over spell for just 11 runs whilst taking
two wickets.
With Haddington desperately
attempting to post a competitive total it was left the the captain himself to
mop up the tail with two
wickets for no runs. Largo were left needing 104 to win. Despite the fall of a
wicket in the first over Robinson and Sharif were
quickly on top and any nerves were put at ease. The two put on 87 for the second
wicket before both falling in quick succession. The formalities of
the victory were left to Kinnear and Ali as the 20 points were secured in style.
