Largo
stumble home
It was a curious game at East Drive when Largo entertained
Grange3rds. in a game sponsored by Rob Roy Homes, Comrie. Largo made an
immediate breakthrough when Sharif claimed the first wicket with the score on 5.
It was 18 for 2 when the next wicket went down and Largo were keen to capitalise
on their good start. The Edinburgh side rallied a bit and with the skipper
Duboulay at the middle the runs started to accumulate. He became Ritchie’s
first wicket and was soon was followed by Adgey who was brilliantly run out by
Robinson. This set the tone for the rest of the innings where a Grange bat would
look settled for them either to fall to a fine piece of work by the Largo side
or lose concentration and throw their wicket away. Grange were finally all out
for 123.
Largo started brightly enough as Sharif and Bob Mowat dealt
with the bowling and played sensible cricket by pushing the ball around the park
for ones and twos. Mowat was first to go caught on the crease and given out LBW.
The in-form bat Robinson came in ad showed why he is the top scorer in the
league by playing some classy shots round the ground. Following the departure of
Sharif for 26 Robinson was joined by Kinnear and these two had ideas of winning
the game for the home side. That all changed when Robinson
ran himself out and Kinnear was out soon after. Suddenly the collywobbles
set in and Largo made hard work of getting the final 10 runs with 10 overs
remaining. Another 3 wickets fell until their old friend “extras”
helped them out and Largo stumbled to victory.
Next week Largo travel he short distance to Freuchie for the Fife derby.
