End of season victory

Largo finished the season off in style with a fine  home win over Grange 3s largely due to the batting of Sharif and Guy Robinson

Grange won the toss and surprising decided to bat. Sharif claimed the first wicket when he bowled Pollok for 8 when the score was on 16. Grange were making heavy weather of the run rate, especially as they lost wickets at exactly the wrong time. Only the junior Banks could offer any real resistance and he passed a fine 50 before he was eventually caught for a decent 73. Once Grange had completed their allotted 50 overs they had posted 140. Chris Barclay was the pick of the bowlers, although there was a contribution from Mowat, Sharif and Smith. Alan Tocher helped himself to a sharp runout aided by wicky Ali Duncan.

Guy Robinson and Sharif started at a pace in the run chase and were keen to punish any wayward bowling. Robinson in particular was at his best as he managed to keep with the normally rampant Sharif in the accumulation of boundaries. It was soon clear 140 was going to be obtained by Largo; it was just a question of when. The victory was slowed down when Sharif was out just 2 short of a well deserved half-century but Robinson kept going despite the fact Grange snapped up another wicket. This allowed Bob Mowat to chip in with a handy 11 before departing. Nothing was going to stop Robinson as he passed the 50 it was soon as over when the winning margin was reached. Robinson remained unbeaten on 56, which included 5 fours and 1 massive 6.
