Stunning Victory
Largo returned to winning ways at East Drive on Saturday with a crushing demolition of Belvoir/Corstorphine 2. In a match sponsored by F.C.E Materials Handling ltd, Largo Lost the toss and were put in to bat bat on a wicket still affected by the weeks heavy downpours. Walker and Mowat however, played well in an opening stand worth 85. Mowat was first to go for 37. Walker went on to make his half century and with fine contributions from Simpson, Rodden and Barnes father and son, Largo posted 167 after their 50 overs.
Nobody was prepared for the devastating way in which Largo demolished the
visitors batting line up after the interval. Chris Barclay and Gregg Rodden
quite simply were awesome. Barclay with 5 wickets in his first 4 overs had the
game won before the visitors could draw breath and Rodden wiped out the
tailenders with embarrassing ease. The total of 19 all out was achieved in
17 overs Barclay with 6 for 10 in 8 and Rodden 4 for 7 in 9.
