Largo Cricket Club take national title.

Largo Cricket Club's long-standing commitment to junior cricket development gained national recognition last week when at Cricket Scotland's Annual Awards ceremony, held in the Roxburghe Hotel, Edinburgh, the club carried off the Best Junior Club in Scotland award.  Over the last few years the club's junior membership has grown steadily as its enthusiastic and dedicated team of coaches have spent long hours during both summer and winter months training and enthusing the next cohort of Largo stars.  As a result more than 80 young boys and girls aged between 8 and 15 are now hooked on the game with some being invited to join Caledonia Academy squad training (the last step before national selection) and others representing Fife Juniors.  Two of the club's young ladies have already been selected for Scotland squads with Briony Gillin going on to represent the national Under 17 girls team.  There is sufficient talent in the boys section to hope that the club will soon have its second representative ever in the Scottish Boys team.

Continued success in Scottish Cup competitions in recent years, where Largo's teams have reached either the semi or quarter-final stages, has been a major boost to club morale.  The club has endeavoured to target enjoyment of the game and good sportsmanship rather than the winning of trophies above all else.  It runs teams for all age groups and winter training is already well  under way, enthusiasm is as high as ever and Largo's young players are already raring to go for next summer.
