Largo CC History

On the 13th August, 1983, Largo Cricket Club rose from the ashes and played their "first" ever match at Silverburn, by Leven.

After clearing the Donkey s***t off the playing surface, two sides of eight players took part in a Captain v Vice-Captain match.  Although no bowling analyses survive, the batting scores were as follows

Captain's Team Graham Vallance scored the first 4 and the first 6 for Largo during the Captain's Team's innings with Sven Mjeldheim bowling the first wicket.  Andrew Duncan had the dubious honour of the firsr duck, whilst David Pirie took the first catch.

The Fyfes, Steven and David, were the first brothers to play in the same match.

Extras 30 A total of 2 sixes and 23 fours were scored which may have had a lot to do with the rather short boundaries at Silverburn and inexperienced bowling rather than any great batting prowess - with the exception of Graham Vallance!

Tea was provided from thermos flasks, there being no facillities at the ground.

Of these illustrious gentlemen two are still active within the Club.  Past President Ian Barnes, who still plays as much as he can and Past President Andrew Duncan, now gracing East Drive as a regular with the world famous "Members Stand".
